Communicate Clearly And Effectively
Communication is the connection point of everything we do. Whether its talking to someone, or sending an e-mail, or smiling at them as they pass you in the hall, it is all communication. Communication is not only about how you say things but also how you listen. With out communication nothing would get accomplished. Working in the operating room communication is a huge part of completing our task at hand,
taking care of our patient. You have to be able to get directions from the doctor you're working with and be able to relay that message to the nurse. Everything from how much medication is used, the patients allergies, and if anything is needed during the surgery.
I have the communication skills needed to accomplish tasks in the operating room. I speak clearly and loud enough for other staff members to hear and understand me, I listen to people talking to me to understand what is needed of me and what I can do to help. Another way that I effectively communicate is by following AST guidelines of labeling medications clearly and legibly for all members of the operating room team at anytime knows what medications are on my field.
I chose to pick my eval done by Tedd Lupella on my clinical three rotation to show that I communicate effectively. You can find this in section A3.
